1. On April 21, Office 365 became Microsoft 365. The name change is more than a little confusing, but the actual subscription packages remain the same. Here is a breakdown.
2. Microsoft Office 2016 is the first in the series to support the vector graphic format SVG. Microsoft Office 2016 cannot coexist with Microsoft Office 2013 apps if both editions use Click-To-Run installer, but it can coexist with earlier versions of Microsoft Office, such as 2003, 2007, and 2010 since they use Windows Installer (MSI) technology.

You receive one Welcome Kit and three Quarterly Update Kits. Each kit contains new software releases, as well as updated sales and marketing materials.

Who can subscribe to the Microsoft Action Pack?

The Microsoft Partner Programme and the Action Pack are designed for companies whose primary function is to sell, service, support, or build solutions on the Microsoft platform, as well as to provide solutions based on Microsoft products and technologies to independent third-party customers. Your business may qualify to enrol as a Registered Member of the Microsoft Partner Programme if it falls in one of the following categories and it sells more than 75 per cent of its products and services to customers outside your company:

• Consulting services provider

• Independent hardware vendor

• Independent software vendor (ISV)

• Large account reseller

• Original equipment manufacturer (OEM)

• Support provider

• System builder

• System integrator

• Value-added provider

Note: Entities that do not qualify for enrolment as Registered Members of the Microsoft Partner Programme include nonprofit organisations, academic institutions, students, government offices, or businesses whose primary focus is not IT-related. Specific types of businesses whose primary focus is not IT-related, but who have significant influence on technology purchases, may qualify to participate in the Microsoft Partner Programme.

What kinds of software use does the licensing agreement allow?

The Microsoft Action Pack Subscription Licence Agreement allows the use of Action Pack software only for internal business needs, as well as for evaluation, demonstration, testing, training and educational purposes.

MAPS Licence Agreement use in a production environment, such as in hosting a commercial website, is outside the scope of the agreement.

The licences are provided for use at Company’s primary business location only and must be used only for Company’s internal business purposes, application development and testing.

The intent of this Initiative is to showcase the latest Microsoft software technology; thus only the latest versions of Microsoft software technology will be offered through this Initiative.

Note: The licences are not intended for employee personal use at home, for hosting customer’s applications, or for installation at a customer site and may not be resold, transferred, or assigned to any third party.

How do the product keys work with my Action Pack Subscription?

The Microsoft Action Pack Subscription provides 10 licences for all desktop software and one licence and 10 client access licences (CALs) for all server software shipped with your one-year subscription.

Note: The full-version desktop software in the Action Pack Subscription provides 10 licences for each title. The desktop product keys can be found on individual cards inside your kit or on the back of the software CD sleeve. Depending on your region, you could have one product key label (good for 10 activations) or 10 labels (each good for one activation).

Note:The full-version server software in the Action Pack Subscription, such as Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server, provides one licence and 10 CALs for each title. Each of the server product keys can be found on the back of the software CD sleeve. Each server product key label indicates the appropriate number of activations. For further information regarding the appropriate use of your not-for-distribution software, refer to your Microsoft Action Pack Subscription Licence Agreement.

How can I acquire additional licences beyond those allowed through the Action Pack Subscription?

Additional licences can be purchased through standard channels (value-added resellers, large-account resellers and distributors). These additional licences can be used in conjunction with the existing copies received through the Action Pack Subscription.

Note: A short online course and brief assessment requirement went into effect 30 November, 2007, for new Action Pack subscribers. You must pass an assessment (with a score of 70 per cent or higher) before you can complete your subscription. Small Business Specialists who are current in their Small Business Specialist enrolment do not need to take an additional assessment to subscribe to the Action Pack.

Office 2019 is the latest version of Microsoft's productivity software that's available as a one-time purchase from a retail store or through a volume licensing agreement.

Important

Office 2019 is separate from Office that's available through Office 365 plans. For example, if you've deployed Office 365 ProPlus to the users in your organization, you don't need Office 2019. You already have all the features, and many more, that are included in Office 2019.

Volume licensed versions of Office 2019 are available for enterprise admins to download and deploy to the users in their organization. This includes the following Office products:

• Office Professional Plus 2019
• Office Standard 2019
• Project Professional 2019
• Project Standard 2019
• Visio Professional 2019
• Visio Standard 2019

These Office products now use Click-to-Run, instead of Windows Installer (MSI), as the installation technology. But, how you activate these Office products – for example, by using Key Management Service (KMS) – remains the same.

What's changed in Office 2019?

The biggest change since Office 2016 is that the installation technology used by the new volume licensed versions of Office is Click-to-Run, instead of Windows Installer (MSI). Click-to-Run has been the installation technology for most Office products since the release of Office 2013.

In addition to Click-to-Run, the following are some other changes that you need to be aware of:

• Office 2019 is supported on Windows 10 but isn’t supported on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. For more information, review the system requirements.
• To configure and perform installations, you use the Office Deployment Tool, which is a free download from the Microsoft Download Center. The Office Customization Tool that you previously used for Windows Installer (MSI) is no longer used.
• Instead of downloading the installation files from the Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC), you use the Office Deployment Tool to download the installation files directly from the Office Content Delivery Network (CDN) on the internet.
• When you install Office Professional Plus 2019, all apps are installed by default. But, you can configure the Office Deployment Tool to exclude certain apps from being installed.
• Office 2019 is installed on the system drive, which is usually the C: drive. The installation location can’t be changed.
• Updates to Office 2019, such as security updates and bug fixes, can be configured to be automatically downloaded and installed from the Office CDN. Individual downloads for each security update or bug fix aren’t available.

What's stayed the same in Office 2019?

Even though there is a different installation technology, you can still use the same software distribution tools, such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, that you currently use to deploy Office. Also, how you activate volume licensed versions of Office – for example, by using Key Management Service (KMS) – remains the same.

Office 2019 won’t receive additional new features now that it has been released. If you want to get new Office features on an on-going basis, you should consider moving to an Office 365 plan that includes Office. Most enterprise plans of Office 365 include Office 365 ProPlus, which includes the same Office apps as Office Professional Plus 2019. How do I upgrade to Office 2019?

We recommend that you uninstall existing versions of Office before you deploy Office 2019. If you’re uninstalling previous versions of Office products that were installed with Windows Installer (MSI), the Office Deployment Tool can remove most of those for you as part of the installation of Office 2019. • Office Professional Plus 2019 includes Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, and Skype for Business.

• All products in the Office 2019 are available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. We recommend 64-bit on computers that have 4 gb or more of memory.
